Mutiny BBQ Company

Was heading to Wild Air Beerworks and saw this place on Google maps (about 2 blocks from the brewery). Being a big BBQ fan, I decided to pop in for a taste before the brewery. When I walked in, I was greeted by the smell of smoke, the sound of good punk music, and immediately greeted by a man who turned out to be the owner, Tom . I ordered a small portion since I had already eaten a big lunch a few hours earlier. While my food was being prepared, Tom showed me the smoker out back on the patio, and we talked about BBQ and punk music (two things that go great together). I got a quarter pound of brisket and a small coleslaw. The meat comes with pickles, pickled onions, and rolls. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring and a ton of flavor. The smoke ring and the amount of fat left after the trim were perfect. The BBQ sauce tasted great and complimented the meat. The vinegar slaw was a perfect side. It was fresh and had a great vinegar bite to it. The pickles were dynamite, and the red onions went well with the dish. I washed it all down with a Cheerwine, which you just don't see around NJ. Will definitely be making this a regular stop when I'm down in Asbury Park. A bonus is you can grab food at Mutiny and bring it over to Wild Air Beerworks.

Finally! FINALLY!!! After an exhaustive search and almost losing hope, I finally found great BBQ in New Jersey! I love BBQ, but everywhere I’ve tried, just misses the mark. Other BBQ joints might be good at one or two things, but drop the ball on the rest. Everything we tried from Mutiny was delicious. Exceptionally good and well presented. Just one thing missing guys… cornbread. Yes, I know about the casserole, but nothing finishes off a great BBQ meal like an excellent piece of cornbread. Anyway, tonight may have been my first visit but certainly won’t be my last. Great work and many thanks!!!

Had a great experience at Mutiny. They have a nice back patio that allows for pet friendly seating and the staff even gave her a water bowl. Prices were very reasonable and food was absolutely delicious, I had the pulled pork and brisket with cornbread casserole and they nicely paired everything with rolls, pickles, and picked onions to make some sandwiches. The staff was also really friendly and attentive. Definitely will be coming back!
